Dr. Cherry Receives Unexpected Professional Honor
While speaking at the “Texts & Tunes” worship and church music conference at Carson-Newman University in February (2013), Constance was surprised by an unexpected honor. She was awarded the distinct recognition of “National Patron” of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity. The organization specifies that this honor “recognizes those who have achieved national or international reputation in music by conferring the honor of National Patron.” It was extended to Dr. Cherry “in recognition of you as an educator of national reputation.” As National Patron, Constance joins others such as Robert Shaw, John Rutter, Jean Berger, James Galway, and many others. Contemporary worship artist, Graham Kendrick, was also inducted at the conference.
The Fraternity is a professional music organization founded at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1909. Its mission is to “promote and support excellence in music and musicianship.”
